Results are scoped to the library you say you’re at, newest first, and widen to the rest of UCLA only if yours has nothing. All 21 libraries work. Only Biomed stacks copies resolve to a shelf you can walk to.

The catalog ranks nothing and corrects no spelling, so both happen here. A typo or two still finds the book.

Each control is shorthand for a token you could type. The tokens are echoed above the results, so nothing narrows silently.

Search syntax

Type field:value anywhere. Quote values with spaces, prefix with - to exclude. Everything else is ordinary search text. Every index below was probed live on 2026‑08‑05; none of them returns nothing.

Trailing truncation, in free text or any phrase field. cardio* catches cardiology and cardiovascular. End of a word only: *word is ignored, car*logy matches nothing.

Two words, both required

Free text uses the all relation: every word must appear somewhere in the record. Quote a phrase to require the words together.

editions:all lists every printing separately instead of grouping them.

carrier: is:

print · audio · music · video · score · map · microform · software · image · online. Read from six MARC fields, not the leader alone, because audiobooks are routinely catalogued as text. carrier:print excludes them. Editions group per carrier, so a recording never leads a book.
